Welcome Back! Spring Term Week 1 Highlights
A big happy New Year to all our artists at Mini Picassos. Our new term kicked off this week and we already have some incredible work being created... here are the highlights!
This week at Toddler classes: Henri Matisse
This week at our toddler classes we looked at the fabulous Henri Matisse. Born in 1869, the French artist made his name by shocking the Parisian art establishment with paintings so bold and brilliant that he became known as a “wild beast” of colour.
The piece we were looking at was 'The Fall of Icarus' 1947, and what incredible creations by our smallest Picassos!
The Academics on Wednesday loved using charcoal on their Modigliani portraits, all in preparation for their clay sculptures next week!
If you are eager to continue and progress using charcoal, take a look at this charcoal video!
Gerald Scarfe : Stage and Screen at the House of Illustration
The amazing Gerald Scarfe is on it's last month at the House of Illustration and is not to be missed! It is a rare opportunity to explore the extensive but little-known production designs by celebrated political cartoonist Gerald Scarfe. Storyboards, costumes and props are on display from Pink Floyd’s The Wall, Disney’s Hercules and English National Ballet’s The Nutcracker. And what's better, the admission price gets you in all three exhibitions at the gallery, including Quentin Blake!
Next week at toddlers we will be looking at Sir Terry Frost's 'Orange, Green and blue rhythm.' check out our timetable for all our classes. See you all next week!
