About the Course

Welcome to our 12 week Drawing and Painting Landscapes. This is a contemporary, loose, semi abstract take on landscape painting in acrylics. Inspired by the work of Willem De kooning and JMW Turner oils on canvas and contemporary artist Bethany Holmes. Understanding colour, mark making and brush marks, take a simple landscape and create a series of oil sketches then work on a final canvas. 

We will learn
- How to understand colour and colour mixing with paint.
- To explore and experiment brush marks to evoke mood in Landscapes.
- How to paint in acrylics.
- How to build layers and depth in oils for breath taking landscapes.

Over the 12 weeks course you will
- Be inspired by both traditional and contemporary Landscape artists.
- Explore semi-abstraction to create playful, bold Landscapes
- Mixing natural colour palettes.
- Understanding colour using acrylic paint.
- Gain an understanding of composition, when painting scapes.
- Understand building up layers and creating volume with colour.
- Building confidence in painting skills, exploring different ways to paint: impasto and quick, impressionist application.
- Complete final painting.
